Van Uden has a long history of giving back to society, through annual donations and sponsorship of art related organizations and charities. Over the years, we have supported museums, philharmonic orchestras, the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, the Sophia children’s hospital, the Rotterdam Zoo and numerous other institutions and projects.
DonateAt the end of the nineties, Van Uden set up a foundation to promote sailing, particularly for the young. Over the past 15 years, this foundation, Stichting Benodet, has organized many events, including the Van Uden Reco Stellendam Regatta in Stellendam and has formed and coached numerous sailing teams.
At the end of 2012, Van Uden took the first steps to help the poor in far off countries, especially in Africa, where people are a lot worse off. This resulted in establishing the Van Uden Charity Foundation. The first project of the foundation is to support the poor population in Namibia, Bosjesmannen in the vernacular or Bushman in South African Dutch.
A number of Bushman tribes, e.g. the San, are receiving free health care through the local N/a’an ku sê foundation and children are educated in the Clever Cubs schools.
A second project is the support of an orphanage in Vietnam where the Mai-Nha foundation supports a number of orphans.
